Williams Lake Youth Rodeo Club excelling in 2025 season

The local club hosted the Little Britches Rodeo at the end of May

The Williams Lake Youth Rodeo Club is enjoying some great accomplishments this rodeo season.

At the end of May the club hosted a BC Liltte Britches Rodeo Association circuit rodeo at the Williams Lake Stampede Grounds. Mother Nature pummelled the Saturday events with heavy rain, but that didn't stop the local athletes from roping in some wins.

A non-profit organization, the BC Little Britches Rodeo Association along with local rodeo clubs throughout the province host rodeos throughout the spring, summer and fall. Communities from Langley to Merritt, Falkland and Barriere to several Interior towns including Clinton, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake and as far north as Prince George participate.

"This is a family oriented sport that benefits these young competitors in several ways including the responsibility they learn through caring for their animals, as well as the respect, camaraderie and sportsmanship they gain as competitors," notes the website.

Upcoming Little Britches Rodeos are scheduled for Barriere June 14 and 15, Langley June 21 and 22 and Falkland July 12 and 13.

Leanne Stewart with the club's shirts were sponsored by Bob's BOB's Footwear and Apparel Inc. this year.

"How cool is that!" she said.
