Williams Lake Mustangs host thank you BBQ

With one year under their belt the team is looking forward to a new season, said head coach and general manager Tyrel Lucas

Williams Lake Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Tyrel Lucas was soaking up the sun and some community support Wednesday, June 11.

The team hosted a barbecue in the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex from 5:30 to 7:30 and Lucas said it was great to see so many people come out.

"Last year we had a meet-and-greet and about 10 people came, we've already had about 80," he said by 6 p.m.

With one year under their belt the team is looking forward to a new season.

The next main camp for the team is Sept. 5 and 6, followed by an exhibition game on Sept. 12 and the home opener on Sept. 20.

On the team's Facebook page so far they have announced 2008 goaltender Linden Lakusta from Prince George and 2008 forward Linden Pinette of Williams Lake for the 25/26 season.

In March 2024, the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League announced that the Summerland Steam franchise has been sold and relocated to Williams Lake.
