A total of 60 runners and 15 walkers are participating in the third annual Westsyde Boogie Trail Race Saturday, June 14, in Williams Lake.

Cariboo Run Crew's Kim Lewis said 30 runners signed up to do the 15 km, 30 runners will do the 5 km and another 15 people have entered the walk/run, a new addition to this race this year inclusive to all families and anybody else who does not want to run the entire way.

Thirty entries into the two runs, is a sold-out race, Lewis said.

"We can't wait to see everyone get out there and run."

The weather was perfect a 9 a.m. for the start of the run in the river valley with partially cloudy skies and a light breeze and temperatures hovering at 14ºC.

The 15 km racers began on the road, headed across the Mortensen Memorial Bridge, that recognizes the late Sheila Mortensen who was a Rotarian and proposed a new bridge to replace an aging one.

Lewis described the route as a "little bit challenging."

"We have some beautiful trails and we utilize a lot of the mountain biking trails," she said.

The route will take the runners up to the repeater tower, past trees and wildflowers and offer some great views.

Runners and walkers doing the 5 km route were slated to start off at 10 a.m.

Watch for the final results in the Tribune.
