Crews respond to travel trailer fire in Williams Lake

Dean said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest it may have been caused by a newly installed wood stove.

Crews respond to a travel trailer fire on Thursday, Dec. 20 at the Williams Lake PAL Lumber site on Frizzi Road.

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire at the Pal Lumber site on Frizzi Roard at approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday night.

"Upon arrival it was confirmed to be a travel trailer located on the property that was fully engulfed in flame," said director of protective services Evan Dean. "The lone occupant escaped the blaze before calling 911."

Dean said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest it may have been caused by a newly installed wood stove. 

The WLFD was on scene for approximately an hour, followed by another hour of cleanup at the hall. In total 17 members, three command vehicles and two large apparatus responded to the call. 

Dean noted ss the winter weather has arrived, the WLFD wishes to remind all residents to ensure that any heat sources are properly maintained and monitored when in use.
