A Nanaimo non-profit will host an afternoon of original folk music of hope, love and peace.
The Awakeneers will perform at the Bethlehem Centre on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m.
According to a press release for the show, the Awakeneers are a "nomadic" group of multi-instrumentalist songwriters, most of whom are siblings. This coming weekend's show follows the centre’s Peace on Earth Day collaboration last year.
"We love collaborating with the Awakeneers as their music aligns with the centre's vision of shaping a compassionate and inclusive world," said Donya Sutherland, Bethlehem Centre’s executive director, in a release. "It was heart-filling to see how the community was moved by the melodic songs of the Peace on Earth Day concert."
The Awakeneers explore principles that are common to spiritual and religious traditions with direct lyrics and evocative melodies. According to the news release, the concert aims to provide inspiration and joy.
“We’re excited to invite folks to come out to listen to some wholesome music and let their hearts be lightened and spirits be lifted in the peaceful atmosphere of this special place,” said Erica Giannone, a member of the Awakeneers.
Tickets are $15-25 and can be purchased from http://bethlehemcentre.com.
