Canada Day at Gyro Park is extra special this year: Darcee O'Hearn is running the concession and serving up all kinds of treats! Check trailtimes.ca later this week for the full lineup of events happening Tuesday, July 1, in Trail. Happy Canada Day, eh!

There are plenty of reasons to visit Gyro Park in Trail this summer, and now there's one more: the snacks.

Darcee O'Hearn, a familiar face at markets across the region, is bringing her fan-favourite eats to the park’s concession.

With help from her kids, Jill, Charlie, and Alex, she’s running the stand daily from noon to 7 p.m. in June, then stretching hours to 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through July and August.

On the menu?

Comfort food with a vegetarian twist.

Think crispy sweet potato fries with chipotle dip, golden onion rings, deep-fried pickle spears with ranch, mozzarella sticks with marinara, and veggie chick’n fingers with fries.

Yes, all vegetarian, and all delicious.

Her famous bubble tea is back, alongside iced coffee, iced matcha, ginger beer, Gatorade, and all the cold drinks you need on a hot day.

And if it’s a treat you’re after, she’s stocked up on Revellos, Space Pops, Drumsticks, freezies, and her homemade freeze-dried sweets,

Basically, if it cools you off or hits the sweet tooth, she’s got it.

“I’d love to have people come down for dinner, maybe a swim, and take in the million-dollar view,” Darcee said.

“I’m going to make this the best concession on Earth.”

And don't forget to drop by on Canada Day, eh?

The July 1 event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
