Young Williams Lake students lace their skates for a class field trip

Students from École Nesika Elementary took the bus to the Cariboo Memorial Complex

Students from École Nesika Elementary laced their skates during a field trip at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex’s ice rink on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Younger students and those new to skating had the assistance of older students, teachers, parents and helpers. Plenty of skating walkers made their rounds, too.

Others practised twirling and balancing on one foot, the swish of skates echoing across the rink.

Falls were softened by the snow pants, coats, gloves and helmets the students were bundled in.

Smiles were wide and skills were gained.
