The Station House Gallery is calling out to the public for art submissions as they gear up for their new exhibition.
This year’s summer theme show at Williams Lake’s oldest building will be Freedom in Motion — Bike Joy, an art show showcasing the many ways bikes bring joy to people. The exhibition will open on July 12 and will run until Aug. 24.
The gallery is welcoming artists of all mediums from around the region to submit works of art that express what bike joy means to them, and as executive director Davana Stafford explains, bike joy can be different to each person.
“Joy to some might be first learning to ride a bike,” she said. “Or maybe creating sculptures or items from bike parts, the thrill behind the handlebars as you come down a trail, or sustainable transportation and the environmental benefits from biking.”
Stafford also said the gallery is excited to share the exhibition “filled with joy, happiness, energy and life” with the community and many travellers who visit during the summer months.
“We hope to create relationships and work with more local groups through this show, including Streets for All Williams Lake, and to bring more awareness to Go by Bike Week held twice a year,” she added.
The Station House Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday and is always free admission. They are still accepting submissions until June 15, and artists can submit up to three entities. Application forms can be found on the gallery website (www.stationhousegallery.com) or through email (manager@stationhousegallery.com).
