Seniors in Williams Lake enjoy a Stampede barbecue

Live entertainment, food and games were all part of the fun

Residents of the Williams Lake Seniors Village celebrated the beginning of Stampede season with their friends and family on Wednesday, June 18 with a Stampede Barbecue.

"We invite all the family and friends of our residents," said Tena Middleton, Community Relations Manger for the village.

The barbecue has become an annual event, with the Rotary Club of Williams Lake cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs and the home's chef Greg and his team serve up a salad for all the guests.

"All the staff help or get to enjoy the barbecue as well," Middleton said.

The event includes games such as 'braid the horse's tail,' 'milk the cow,' 'wrangle a steer and horse,' tin can smash' and horseshoe tossing. There was also a photo booth and live entertainment.

"Harry Jennings comes and does a couple of sets of music for us," said Middleton. "He is one of our regular volunteers here at the village and he comes and sings twice a month for our residents so we thought it would be great to have him entertain for this event."
