Robbie Burns Night coming up at the Williams Lake legion

Williams Lake Legion Branch 139 is inviting folks to an evening of Scottish delight on Jan. 25, tickets are $35

Every January the Williams Lake Legion celebrates the birth of Robbie Burns, Scotland’s most famous son. All the traditional elements are included in our evening.

The Haggis is piped in with great ceremony to the skirl of the pipes with kilts swinging and swords held high for the address to a haggis. This is followed by a traditional meal with baron of beef, mashed tatties, bashed neeps peas, salad and finally, Scottish trifle and shortbread for dessert.

Next, we have words of praise for our Robbie, toasts to the lads and lassies, piping by our piper Aubrey Jackson ending with “The Star of Robbie Burns” and “Auld Lang Syne” led by Doug White.

And then, we get to kick up our heels to the tunes of Shady and his Damn Band.

Come on down Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. Ye be glad you did!
