PHOTOS: Downtown Williams Lake Trick ‘r Treat event attracts a crowd

Large numbers of trick-or-treaters were walking between businesses downtown for candy and prizes

Downtown Williams Lake was bustling with activity as trick-or-treaters visited local businesses in costume for Halloween.

The sixth year of the Downtown Williams Lake initiative, which has trick-or-treaters pick up a map, and then visit local businesses to receive treats and prizes was clearly missed during the pandemic.

This was the first year back for the event, and the enthusiasm was obvious, with everything from large groups to pairs of costumed characters walking throughout the downtown between businesses.

“We’re so excited this is back,” enthused Maggie Pyper, who was out doing the route with her son Kaleo Pyper. Kaleo had won a trophy during a previous Downtown Williams Lake Trick ‘r Treat event and he had once again helped to hand paint his own costume.
