On Friday afternoon, Mr. Craig Munroe, the principal at Mountview Elementary School, was suspended, hanging from the wall of the gymnasium by many, many strips of duct tape.
Students through the school were able to pay $1 for one strip to duct tape, and over the course of a couple hours, individually added the strips while Munroe balanced on a chair. The goal: remove the chair and see Munroe hang from the wall.
Ashtynn Cullum, a student at Mountview headed up the Duct Tape Day, as part of the Kids for Causes fundraisers for uninsured wildfire victims.

Ashtynn says she saw the idea on the internet when she and her mother, Amandah, were looking for fundraisers.
“This just popped out,” she said.
“It’s a fun and exciting thing that everyone will like and it’s for the whole school so everyone gets to participate.”
Students laughed as they, sometimes gingerly, added duct tape to keep their principal from slipping to the ground.
The event was an evident success, raising $434.40 to add to the group’s total.
The Kids for Causes group had previously raised over $5,000 through their own fundraising, extra chores, donations from others in the community and selling a number of handmade products at the Cataline Craft Fair.
The grand total raised by the students: $6,379.40.
