Middle Man show offers up art treasures for new homes

The annual event is helping art lovers and future artists through its support of the gallery

Another art opening at the Station House Gallery on May 1 is giving some art a second lease on life.

The gallery's Middle Man art show is underway, with people bringing in art they no longer want or don't have space for to be resold. The show and sale works as a fundraiser for the gallery.

"It's a really unique opportunity for us to fund raise for our children's programs, for our exhibition programs, and then help art be enjoyed," explained Davanna Stafford, executive director of the gallery.

This year's show has attracted more pieces then the gallery can show all at once, and includes paintings, prints and pottery.

Art lovers get to purchase the second hand art at second hand prices and tax-free, all while supporting the gallery.

As a piece is purchased, people can take the art home from this exhibit, with the gallery shuffling things to fill gaps but also fitting more in.

"So it's going to be a really evolving show for the month of May," said Stafford.

The main gallery is packed full of art of all kinds, and there is also a blind bid auction where bids are submitted, with no one knowing what each person bid.

Upstairs, the Fibre Art Network has in impressive show of western Canadian fibre artists titled "I Am." The show is full of variety as pieces represent who each artist is at this moment.

"Offering a rich tapestry of identity, experience and self-reflection," states the exhibit write up.

Both exhibits have been up since May 1 and will be on display through to Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The gallery is free to visit and is open Tuesday to Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The exhibits are sponsored by Richard and Gwynneth Nelson.
