Lutheran Church Christmas Market rings in the season

Every year St. John Lutheran Church hosts a Christmas Market and 2024 was no exception.

For the third year in a row, St. John Lutheran Church held a Christmas Market this season.

Organizer Roberta Smith said it is an opportunity for church members and non-church members to share with others what they create.

Held on Saturday, Nov. 23, the market attracted 16 vendors and had a steady flow of customers.

"I've had positive feedback," Smith said, adding she is already planning for next year.

The market provides an opportunity to raise some money for the church, Smith said, adding the church is in need a new fridge.

One of the baking tables was raising funds for the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and another table for Operation Smile.

Smith moved to Williams Lake eight years ago from Dawson Creek.

Her husband, Noel Smith, is the church's pastor.

When asked what she loves most about Christmas she replied, 'it is our Saviour's birth."

Attending the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at the church is always a favourite, she added.
