This month has been very exciting as the new contestants were introduced to the program.
The orientation took place on March 9.
The contestants running this year are: Alexia Colton, Miss Cariboo Spurs Apparel and Tack; Davana Mahon, Miss Macon Construction; and Bobi Bracewell, Miss Tourism Cariboo Chilcotin-Coast Association.
I was able to attend the Business Excellence Awards and they had an interesting, tropical theme.
The food served was very tropical and had pineapple in pretty much everything, as well as a whole suckling pig. It, surprisingly, all tasted very good.
I helped out by selling tickets for a door prize, which was a red flyer wagon filled with goodies and 25,000 Save-On More points.
The next event I attended with Stampede Princess Nicole Roberts, and the contestants, was the City’s birthday tea at the museum. We helped out by serving tea and cake. I also had the honour of presenting the museum with the Stampede Queen crown from 1992.
The contestants, Nicole, and I have also been given the opportunity to attend Toastmasters to help polish up our speech-craft. This has been very entertaining and fun so far, as well as a great learning experience.
I highly recommend this class if you are planning to gain the skill of public speaking.
Next for us are the monthly birthday events at the Seniors’ Activity Centre and the Walk For Harmony today, March 29, starting at 11:45 a.m. from Boitanio Park and ending at the Gibraltar Room for refreshments.
Hope to see everyone there and I wish the contestants the best of luck throughout the competition!
