The Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre (CDC) is excited to host the Christmas Wish breakfast on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Boston Pizza.

The fundraiser gathers toys and raises money for individuals needing holiday gifts for their loved ones. Last year, 1700 toys were donated.

For those wanting to reserve a spot for breakfast, call the CDC at 250-392-4481. Upon arrival at the breakfast, bring a new, unwrapped toy or monetary donation.

The CDC event is in partnership with Boston Pizza, the GOAT and Cariboo Country Radio, along with many community members who come to volunteer.

CDC community engagement planner Kourtney Cameron reflected on last year’s event, saying it was wonderful to see everybody pile in and bring their toys in.

Once the toys are collected, they are taken to the CDC, which sorts through them, separating them into age categories. Next, there is an agency shop where clients come and collect toys. Agencies include the Cariboo Friendship Society, Pregnancy Outreach Program, Women’s Contact Society, Chiwid Transition House, Denisiqi Services Society and others. The remainder of the toys are donated.

“The event is a great way for members of the community to connect with one another,” said Cameron.
