The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex has jumped into the new year with plenty of activities to keep people active.

While some of us would rather climb back under the covers to stay warm, others are hoping some movement will warm them up.

Here is a list of what’s happening and when:

Badminton

For those 10 and up, badminton sessions begin Jan. 8 and run through the end of April. There are three facilitators and sessions take place at Columneetza Secondary School.

Ballroom Dancing

From Jan. 10 to March 13, you and a partner can take ten classes and learn the Waltz, Fox Trot, Rhumba, Jive, Cha Cha and Swing. Sessions take place on Wednesday evenings. Ballroom Dance One is for those 16 and up and Ballroom Dance Two is for those 18 and up.

Basketball

Beginning Jan. 9 until April 30 for those 15 and older, the Tuesday and Wednesday evening basketball program offers people the chance to get on the court and engage with community members. Tuesday sessions are at Columneetza Secondary School and Wednesday sessions take place at Thompson Rivers University.

Floor Hockey

Floor hockey begins on Jan. 8 and happens Mondays and Thursdays in the evenings at Marie Sharpe Elementary School. Players must be 15 or older.

Pickleball

For those 16 and up, pickleball begins Jan. 11 and runs through early March at Thompson Rivers University.

Yoga

Six “wind down” yoga sessions begin on Jan. 11 and take place weekly on Thursday evenings for those 15 and up. Expect to destress and leave feeling relaxed.

Yogalates

A mix of yoga and pilates classes are available for those 55 and up and begin Jan. 25 at the fitness centre. Five sessions will take place.
