Bowl For Kids Sake nets more than $19K

Funds raised will support Big Brothers and Big Sisters Williams Lake

Bowl For Kids Sake in Williams Lake made more than $19,000.

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Williams Lake event attracted 27 teams and approximately 160 participants.

“Our final fundraising amount was $19,478.70,” said Daniela Urbina, executive assistant.

This year the theme was Mythical Creatures at the enchanted forest.

Urbina said after COVID, the organization has been having a hard time getting back on its feet.

“With all the past staff moving forward, we were a little anxious about the future of this amazing organization. After celebrating Bowl For Kids’ Sake, we felt all the warm support and kindness around Williams Lake.”

She noted they are so thankful because it was the first time the present staff had hosted the big fundraising event.

This funds will be used as fuel to continue all regular activities, such as the in-school and community matches, and to welcome new events throughout the year, including groups at Cataline and Marie Sharpe elementary schools such as the “Boys Leadership Group” and a “Science Group” which will be starting in the next couple of weeks.

“We are so grateful that we can continue to help shape the future of this lovely town,” she said.
