More than 100 people recently attended a fundraising dinner and silent auction for the B.C. Senior Games Society Zone 9 at the Williams Lake Seniors’ Activity Centre.
Money raised will go toward travel expenses for those participating in the games to be held in the Kootenays in August.
Williams Lake will send in excess of 25 people to the games.
Attendees enjoyed a great roast beef dinner prepared by the local branch of the games society, along with many helpers.
After dinner, the crowd listened and danced to the music of Mix and Match.
Ellen Wiege, Williams Lake Senior Games’ co-ordinator, expressed thanks to all those who contributed to the event’s success.
She especially applauds the effort of the band members who donated their time and talent.
Wiege reports $1,675 dollars was raised from the dinner and auction and she gratefully accepted a $500 donation from the Old Age Pensioner’s Organization.
The B.C. Senior Games include badminton, bowling, swimming, slo-pitch, floor curling, hockey, cribbage, track and field and many more events.
