Johnson was viewing the race from behind the spectator fence when a horse ridden by Langley competitor Christa Byrd came flying out of control through the spectator gate, clipped a vehicle and hit Johnson before stopping and tossing Byrd off. Luckily, neither Byrd nor Johnson sustained any serious injuries.
