The Bridge Street Plaza, Princeton’s new outdoor event location, was the site of the July 1 Canada Day festivities.
The celebrations included music, dancing, a free barbecue, emergency services, vendors and community booths for all ages.
“Princeton loves events and Canada Day brought out our Canadian pride,” said Nadine Koronko, Princeton’s recreation and events coordinator.
“The town was excited to host at our new event location. The Bridge Street Plaza will be home to many wonderful events for years to come.”
Emergency Services cooked close to 400 burgers and 100 hot dogs for the event.
Live entertainment included Cashanea from the Upper Similkameen Indian Band who sang the Okanagan Song, followed by Bernadette Keller with O Canada.
The Princeton Highland Dancers provided bagpipe music and dancing from their youngest performers. The Princeton Highland Dancers have been providing entertainment in Princeton for more than 30 years.
Y4 The House Band closed out the event with live music and DJ Burnout entertained the crowd with Canadian music and trivia.
“Local volunteer organizations and emergency service vehicles showed their community spirit and pride by hosting booths for all ages to enjoy and visit. Princeton is filled with community spirit,” Koronko said.
“We cannot thank our local organizations and sponsors for making Canada Day a memorable one. It is with their support that we bring Princeton together as a community.”
The federal government provided financial support for this celebration.
