Williams Lake Pickleball Club hosted a successful event in honour of National Pickleball Day on Aug. 10.
The club gave away pickleball paddles to young people who came out to learn the fast-growing sport, thanks to a grant provided by the local Royal Canadian Legion.
"We had a great turn out," said Darlene Lainchbury of the Williams Lake Pickleball Club.
The city of Williams Lake provided free admission for participants to come and play inside the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, so the event was not weather-dependent.
Lainchbury said many adults also came out to participate in the day's events, which included free lessons and games.
