Williams Lake speed skater Kayden Ford-Jalbert attended the Richmond skating academy training March 8.
Kayden followed this up with two days of racing in Abbostford for the B.C. championships March 9 and 10 .
There were 19 different team at the races and this was the strongest group of skaters he has skated with so far, said his mom and coach Nancy Jalbert.
She said all skaters at the B.C. championships have to qualify with a time of 1.00.00 min or less for a 500m race to enter.
Kayden qualified with a time of 0.54.23 sec.
He was the 11th fastest in the 500m for his division and placed 13th overall for his division in B.C. for the weekend.
“His hard work showed as he placed two spots higher than last year,” said Jalbert.
She said Kayden keeps looking to improve and is focused on being even better next year.
