Williams Lake Stampeders will be raising money for the BC Cancer Foundation at their home game Friday, Jan. 31 against the Quesnel Kangaroos.

While the Williams Lake Stampeders hope to win when they play the Quesnel Kangaroos on home ice Friday, Jan. 31 the team will also be raising money for a cause.

Proceeds from the “chuck a puck” puck toss, and partial proceeds of each ticket will go to the BC Cancer Foundation, plus there will be a donation container available at the game.

Stamps president Willy DeVuyst said the Stamps will be donning pink hockey tape and pink laces for the game and have challenged the Roos to do the same.

They cannot afford pink jerseys, he added.

The idea to have a game earmarked to raise money for the cancer foundation was inspired by the Prince Rupert Rampage who have raised 10s of 1,000s of dollars each year through their Rampage against Cancer campaign.

"One of our executive members saw that and said, 'let's try and to that,'" said DeVuyst.

For this final game of the Central Interior Hockey League regular season puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

While playing away last weekend the Stamps won 7-3 against Rupert and lost 5-4 against the Terrace River Kings.
