Athletes from Williams Lake continue to compete in BC High School Rodeo Association events.
They will be heading to Merritt May 10 and 11, Quesnel May 17 and 18 and to Dawson Creek May 24 and 25 for the BC Provincial Junior Finals and Quesnel June 12 to 15 for the BC Provincial Senior Finals.
"The contestants are competing for the points they receive in each event to qualify them for the BC Provincial Finals and then from there the Top 5 will move on to the National Finals in Wyoming and Junior National Finals in Des Moines, Iowa and then on to the Canadian Finals in Brandon, Manitoba," said Denise Swampy, with the Williams Lake Youth Rodeo Club.
When Williams Lake hosted a high school rodeo on April 26 and 27, it was the second one in the circuit.
Swampy said the club is grateful for all the sponsors and volunteers who helped with the weekend's success, including MLA Lorne Doerkson who worked the rodeo all weekend.
