High school students from across B.C. competed in the Williams Lake BC High School Rodeo event over the weekend of April 26, 27.
Hosted by the Williams Lake Youth Rodeo Club, there were 25 events the athletes could compete in each day, from bull riding to goat tying in both junior and senior categories.
Winners of the Junior Boys All Around categories are Jayden Peters of Lytton and Tryan Rivet of Williams Lake, and the Junior Girls All Around categories are Reese Colgate of Williams Lake, Sadie Stewart of Merritt and Paige Cady of Kamloops. Winners of the Senior Boys All Around are Cooper Seelhof of Horsefly and Wyatt Brember of Monte Creek, and winners of the Senior Girls All Around are Macey Freemantle of Kamloops and Sterling Schneider of Princeton.
Jayden Peters had the highest bull riding score among juniors with 73 points, and senior Dawson Spady of Williams Lake had the highest bull riding score of the event with 79 points.
Leyton Easthope of Spallumcheen placed first in the Junior Boys Tie Down event with a 20.8 second time, followed by Tryan Rivet who on Saturday placed second with a 22.7 time. Among the seniors, Cooper Seelhof got the best tie down timing at 13.4 seconds, followed by Brock Lawlor of Quesnel with 14.1 seconds and Kolt Alexander with 14.2 seconds.
Sadie Stewart got the best timing in the Junior Breakaway event with 4.1 seconds, followed by Reese Colgate with 4.7 seconds and Hayden Konrad of Spallumcheen with 5 seconds. In the Seniors Breakaway Lyla Lougheed of Heffle Creek got the best timing with 2.8 seconds followed by Ashlyn Wade of Falkland with 3.1 seconds and Maryn Hughes of Kelowna with 3.2 seconds.
