The city council of Williams Lake will mark many official proclamations in September and October.
Council voted in favour of three requested proclamations at their regular meeting at city hall on Aug. 13.
National Forest Week will be proclaimed for the week of September 22-28 in Williams Lake. The request for the proclamation came from the Canadian Institute of Forestry.
Rail Safety Week will be declared for Williams Lake for September 23-29 at the request of CN Rail. Interestingly, as of Aug. 21, CN Rail had served notice to workers they could be locked out by Aug. 22. Hopefully the two sides come to an agreement before the proclamation comes into effect.
Wrongful Conviction Day will be marked on Oct. 2, in Williams Lake, at the request of the International Wrongful Conviction Day Committee. The lights of city hall will be changed to yellow on the day as well.
