UPDATE: A small wildfire near Sutherland Lake has been extinguished.
Originally reported on Thursday, May 9, over the weekend the fire was declared out by the B.C. Wildfire service. There are only two active wildfires in the Cariboo region as of Monday, May 13, with both listed as under control.
ORIGINAL STORY: BC Wildfire crews have brought a small wildfire northeast of Sutherland Lake under control.
This wildfire was first discovered on Thursday, May 9 near the lake, about a 35-minute drive east of 100 Mile House. Crews were able to bring the 0.6-hectare fire under control the same day with the fire now being listed as under control.
At this time B.C. Wildfire suspects the cause of the fire to be human in origin. The Cariboo region is currently under a Category 2 and 3 open fire ban.
