The 2 Rivers Remix Moveable Feast in Puntzi Lake has been postponed due to wildfire activity.

2 Rivers Remix is postponing the Indigenous Peoples Day Moveable Feast, which was to come to Puntzi Lake on June 20, 21, due wildfire activity.

"The wildfire activity in the area is very real, and the safety of our elders, youth, artists, staff, and everyone who gathers with us is always our top priority," said Meeka Morgan, the organization's artistic director, in a June 18 statement.

Morgan said they also wanted to avoid adding pressure on emergency crews and responders as well as to the people facing an evacuation alert due to a wildfire in the area. She assured the event, which is being planned in partnership with Tŝideldel First Nation, will be rescheduled for a time "not too far down the road."

"Thank you for walking with us, for your understanding, and for being part of this beautiful circle. We can’t wait to gather again soon, stronger and more connected than ever," she said. "Please take care of yourselves and each other."

As of 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, the The Martin Lake fire, over two hours west of Williams Lake, is anticipated to grow beyond its current size of 1,810 hectares.
