The Town of View Royal wants to know how best it can communicate with the community.

The Town of View Royal is exploring how best it can engage with the community.

The council is asking residents, business owners and interested parties to take part in an online survey, which asks them what "community matters" they are most interested in and how they would like to provide input.

The results of the survey will help the council ensure that its communication with the public is inclusive, accessible and reaches all neighbourhoods across the community.

“Public engagement helps build trust, transparency, and accountability between decision-makers and the community by fostering open communication and active participation,” said mayor Sid Tobias in a press release on July 22. “A lot has changed since Covid-19 in terms of how people prefer to communicate and what tools and approaches exist for local governments.”

In the months ahead, the council is planning to develop a community engagement strategy and will be reviewing the Town's 2011 Official Community Plan.

The online survey is open until Sept. 1, and is available at: www.viewroyal.ca/haveyoursay.

Those who participate can enter for a chance to win one of three $10 gift cards to a View Royal coffee shop.

Town council staff will also be out in the community over the summer months hearing from people and promoting the online engagement survey.
