RCMP seize suspected cocaine, loaded rifle in Williams Lake residence

The seizure follows a search which located meth/crack pipes, suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth and a 'date-rape drug'

Williams Lake RCMP report seizing more than 100 grams of suspected cocaine and loaded weapons while searching a residence on South Lakeside Drive in Williams Lake.

In a March 18 media release, RCMP said the driver of a vehicle associated to drug trafficking in the area was seen by police on March 7 pulling into the parking lot of a local fast-food restaurant. A second vehicle followed thereafter, and the actions of both drivers during their interaction led to police stopping them in two different locations.

Both drivers were detained for a drug investigation, one driver later being released while the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were arrested for drug possession.

RCMP said they then conducted a search following the arrests and located meth/crack pipes, suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth and GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate). According to the Government of Canada website, GHB is often referred to as a date-rape drug.

Police said items commonly seen in drug trafficking were also found along with some Canadian cash.

The two suspects were later released as the investigation continued. A search warrant allowed police to search a residence on South Lakeside Drive where they seized over 100 grams of suspected cocaine, an SKS loaded rifle with a prohibited magazine, numerous loaded pistol mags, suspected GHB, bulk ammunition and 298 cartons of illicit cigarettes.

The investigation is ongoing.
