Quesnel RCMP arrested a 29-year-old man Thursday, Nov. 14 in possession of a stolen logging truck.
The logging truck and a trailer were stolen the day before on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 2:40 a.m. from a business on Quesnel Hixon Road in Quesnel, said Quesnel RCMP media relations officer Sgt. Clay Kronesbusch in a news release,
On Nov. 14, the stolen truck was spotted on Highway 97 near Alexandria at 7:30 a.m. and police located it in the McLeese Lake area.
While the suspect attempted to flee from police on a stolen motorcycle, he was later apprehended with assistance from the Williams Lake RCMP, RCMP air services and police dog services.
"The thieves are also suspected to be involved in other thefts from the same area," Kronesbusch said, adding the trailer was found abandoned the next day.
Thanks to the hard work and coordinated efforts of all those involved, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen truck and motorcycle,
said Sgt. Kronebusch. The man will appear before a judge later today [Thursday].
