Oceanside RCMP kept busy by vandals, thieves and trespassers

Police receive 234 complaints in one-week period

Trespassers, vandals and thieves continue to keep Oceanside RCMP members busy.

During the week of Sept. 23 to Sept. 29, Oceanside RCMP received 234 complaints.

Some of the incidents included:

On Sept. 23, a grey 2022 Mitsubishi Delicia, B.C. licence plates LP844E, was reported stolen from the park and ride on Memorial Avenue in Qualicum Beach. One day later in the down, a political sign was reported damaged in the 3500 block of Island Highway West.

Nighttime trespassers were reported in the 100 block of Alberni Highway in Parksville on Sept. 24. The same day, a trespasser was reported in the 3500 block of Ryan Road in Qualicum Beach. Also Sept. 24, a bicycle theft was thwarted in the 100 block of Hirst Avenue East in Parksville. A male was arrested and charges will be recommended. The same day, a vehicle window was reported broken in the 1700 block of Alberni Highway in Coombs.

On Sept. 25, a Samsung electric scooter with 10-inch wheels and an e-Rhino 18AH charger were reported stolen in the 2200 block of Alberni Highway in Coombs. A day later, a nighttime trespasser was reported in the 100 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. Also on Sept. 26, spare vehicle tires were reported stolen in the 600 block of Pym Street, in Parksville. The same day, a vehicle was reported to have damaged a lawn by driving onto the property in the 700 block of West Ridge Way in Qualicum Beach.

A residential break-and-enter was reported in the 2200 block of Island Highway East in Nanoose Bay on Sept. 27. On the same day, a vehicle window was reported broken in the 500 block of Vine Drive in Parksville. One night later, nighttime trespassers were reported in the 100 block of Corfield Street South in Parksville.
