Four charged after police uncover drugs, weapons stockpile in Langford

Police seized 20 guns, over 20,000 rounds of ammunition, two sets of ballistic armour and 4.5 kilograms of cocaine

The Victoria Police Department and West Shore RCMP arrested a man and seized 20 firearms, over 20,000 rounds of ammunition, $27,000, 4.5 kilograms of cocaine and two sets of ballistic armour in June 2024.

A lengthy investigation by the Victoria Police Department's General Investigative Services (GIS) led to multiple weapon and drug charges for two men and two women.

Police conducted a search warrant at a home in the 800-block of Pintail Place in Langford on June 25, 2024, following a GIS covert drug trafficking investigation. The search resulted in the seizure of 20 guns, over 20,000 rounds of ammunition, $27,000 in cash, two sets of ballistic armour and 4.5 kilograms of cocaine.

On June 11, 2025, Crown counsel approved charges against Kelt Haymes, Lain Babin, Sarah Bonin, and Abigail Lopez.

Haymes was charged with one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and one count of possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking. Babin was charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking. Bonin was charged with one count of trafficking cocaine, and Lopez was charged with one count of possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking. 

“This investigation demonstrated the dedication and determination of our officers and staff,” said VicPD Chief Del Manak in a news release. “I am incredibly proud of the work done by our GIS officers, strike force, and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, alongside the crucial support from our civilian staff, in their combined efforts to secure charges and remove dangerous weapons and drugs from our community.” 

Police are unable to share more details as the case is before the courts.
