Williams Lake city council voted to award a contract for sanitary sewer main inspections to Enviro Jet Services at the regular council meeting on Aug. 13.
The contract, valued at $166,741, has the company using closed circuit television (CCTV) camera in order to inspect and clean approximately 20,950 metres of sanitary sewer mains in the city.
The amount, the lowest bid the city received for the work, was about twice the amount the city expected when they opened the bid.
"This is the kinds of things we are facing," said Mayor Surinderpal Rathor. He advised the community to understand the challenges the city is facing as costs increase.
A sewer budget overrun of $16,741 will be covered from sewer reserves.
