A new mobile therapy service is up and running in the Cariboo Chilcotin for people up to 19-years-of age.
Denisiqi Services Society and the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre, are providing the Indigenous Child and Youth Mobile Therapy Services.
The mobile services support the Tŝilhqot’in, Northern Secwepemc and Ulkatcho First Nations directly within their communities via a mobile therapy bus.
Some of the services will include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, early years supports, and support for social, behavioral and sensory processing.
"This is a service that has been in the making since July 2024," noted a news release about the service. "It has officially been in operation since January 2025. At this time there is one bus on the road with another under transformation."
Members of the mobile team includes Nancy Frost, mobile services manager, Sherry Stump, cultural liaison, Tracy Hance, family navigator, Alys Wardlaw, speech and language therapist and Jerusha Alvares, speech and language therapist.
Currently the program is hoping to recruit two occupational therapists and two physiotherapist to join the team.

On Wednesday, May 14 there will be a ribbon-cutting and ground-breaking ceremony at 1155 Mackenzie Avenue North from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., for the news site of the future home of Denisiqi Service Society.
