Marvellous May, jazzy June await at Osborne Bay Pub

Live music, dancing and good vibes all season long in Crofton

Kick off the long weekend with the raw energy of Aston Martini on Saturday, May 17 at 8 p.m. Known for their fearless reimaginings of post-punk, alternative and iconic rock songs, this powerhouse group brings a bold and emotional sound to the stage. Lead vocalist Christopher Lawry’s dynamic range and charisma anchor a band that covers everyone from The Black Keys and David Bowie to The Cult and Depeche Mode. Tickets are available online.

Get ready to hit the dance floor on Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m. when Groove Kitchen returns to Crofton. One of Victoria’s most in-demand dance bands, Groove Kitchen blends funk, soul, pop and hip hop with a touch of Latin spice. June kicks off in style with Steve Marriner on Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. A two-time Juno Award winner and one of Canada’s most versatile and respected blues artists, Marriner brings soulful vocals, expert harmonica and baritone guitar to the stage. With decades of touring and collaborations under his belt — including with the likes of Colin James, Buddy Guy and Jimmie Vaughan — Marriner’s sound is a masterclass in modern blues. On Saturday, June 7 at 8 p.m. don’t miss The Fabulous B-Sides, a high-energy six-piece show band that covers soul, funk, pop and classic rock with style and swagger. Featuring not one, but two lead vocalists, a sizzling horn section and even a washboard, this Victoria-based group serves up irresistible dance floor favourites. Tickets can be purchased online.

Then it’s time to turn up the heat with Uncle Wiggly & The Smokin’ Hot Toasters on Saturday, June 14 at 8 p.m. This revitalized rhythm and blues outfit had its beginnings in the Western Canadian roots music scene of the 1980s and is back with their signature blend of groove, grit and good times. Thick As Thieves returns on Saturday, June 21 at 8 p.m. for a hometown-style night of classic rock, southern blues and alt-country. Formerly known as Row of Crowz, this Cowichan Valley band has shared the stage for more than 25 years. Covering everything from Chris Stapleton and Marcus King to 54-40 and The Tragically Hip, they deliver a rich, rootsy sound steeped in experience and love of the music. Rounding out the month is a joyful tribute to the Fab Four with The Sutcliffes on Saturday, June 28 at 8 p.m. with their interpretations of The Beatles’ music and the music that inspired the iconic band. Sunday Afternoon Jazz happens every second Sunday of the month at 2 p.m., bringing top-tier talent to the stage in a relaxed, seaside setting. Hosted by Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society, with cover at the door.

Boogie By The Bay Blues Jam takes place every third Thursday. The jam runs from 7 to 10 p.m., with a $10 cover. Jammers get in free.

Saturday shows are 19-plus only. For all other events, the pub and patios are family friendly.
