April is springing into the groove this month at the Osborne Bay Pub, where you can enjoy live music by the sea in a cozy coastal atmosphere. With a mix of familiar soft rock favourites, jazz-infused rock and a bluesy fundraiser, the pub’s spring calendar offers a month of unforgettable nights.
First up, on Saturday, April 12 at 8 p.m., get ready to sail away on a sea of smooth sounds with Rock Yacht, a band that brings the mellow magic of the ’70s and ’80s to the stage. Covering classic yacht rock artists such as Hall and Oates, the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and more, this crew knows how to set a laid-back vibe. Whether you’re grooving on the dance floor or relaxing with a cocktail or mocktail, it’s going to be smooth sailing all night long. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
On Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m., enjoy an unforgettable afternoon of jazz with the Ashley Wey Trio, featuring pianist Ashley Wey alongside guitarist Adam Dobres and bassist Louis Rudner. A captivating performer deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, Wey brings expressive, soulful piano playing and engaging storytelling to the stage. Her performances blend heartfelt music with reflections on jazz history. From Great American Songbook favourites to her own original compositions, Wey’s repertoire is both wide-ranging and rich in harmonic sophistication. With spirited lyricism and adventurous improvisation, she breathes fresh energy into contemporary jazz. Presented by Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Then on Saturday, April 19 at 8 p.m., the Pretzel Logic Orchestra pays tribute to one of the most popular acts of the ’70s: Steely Dan. Fusing jazz sensibility with the rhythms of rock, pop and R&B, Steely Dan created a sound that remains unique in music history. With a killer lineup of Victoria’s top jazz and rock musicians, the nine-piece Pretzel Logic Orchestra dives deep into hits like Rikki Don’t Lose That Number, Deacon Blues and Dirty Work. Expect tight harmonies, funky grooves and a big, horn-driven sound that captures the essence of Steely Dan’s genre-blending genius. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
The month wraps up with a night of music for a great cause. Mama Love’s Heart & Stroke Fundraiser takes over the pub on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m., featuring not one, not two, but three fantastic blues bands: Bill Johnson & His Blues Band, Renovation Blues Band, and Lazy Mike & the Argyle Jets. Hosted by CHLY 101.7 FM’s Grant Payne and presented by Sasquatch Music Productions and Berry Music Company, this is an evening full of heart — literally. All proceeds go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and entry is a $25 donation at the door.
Every third Thursday of the month is Boogie by the Bay Blues Jam, hosted by Grant Payne with host band the Thor Jonsson Band and presented by Sasquatch Music.
