Testimonies are rolling in for the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce’s Business at its Best Social, taking place Saturday, Feb. 10.
Executive director Tamara Garreau said the chamber put out a call in January for customers to submit stories about businesses that have gone above and beyond.
“Most of them are happy with the unique services they receive or how businesses have gone out of their way to make them happy,” she said. “There have been really sweet submissions.”
The stories are not just about service, but also how the businesses do so much for the community, Garreau added.
“That came up a lot, in a lot of submissions.”
When staff receive a nomination they go visit the business and read out the submission so the businesses can hear what people are saying about them.
From those visits they have been creating videos post on social media that will also be shared at the social, which will go from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
During the social there will be music, appetizers and beverages with stand-up tables so people can mingle.
Last year the chamber was unable to host its business excellence awards so the board wanted to do something to celebrate businesses and came up with the idea for the social.
Garreau credited events coordinator Karena Sokolan who has put in a lot of work for the social.
The submission form is available on the chamber website - wlchamber.ca - if anyone wants to sent in one.
“We will leave it up there right to the deadline,” she said.
Tickets are $25 for chamber members and $30 for non-members, available at the tourism centre or by calling to have one held at the door.
Plans are in the works to put on the business excellence awards in October 2024, she confirmed.
