Re: 'Parksville makes list of B.C’.s most economically resilient cities' (www.pqbnews.com, April 10)

I am always delighted to get a chuckle from the PQB News. The definition of this claim would mean that the economy has the capacity to withstand, absorb and recover from disruptive forces, both quickly and effectively.

The mayor goes on to state that he continues to support a growing, strong and sustainable economy. What leaves me completely puzzled is “where and what is this economy?"

There is no industry, the major employers would be the city itself and the school district. Presently there is a tremendous number of apartments under construction, none of which are built or owned by a local business. The infrastructure needs and costs exceed the tax base causing an ever-increasing burden on the homeowner.

I look forward to the mayor and council responding with information that seems to be elusive.
