Tour de North arrives at Boitanio Park Thursday

The Cops for Cancer Tour de North is expected to arrive in Williams Lake around 5:15p.m. on Sept. 26.

Local firefighter Sharleen Bast will lead a group of cyclists raising funds for childhood cancer to the finish line on Thursday, Sept. 26 in Williams Lake.

The Tour de North will be riding in from the brake-check on Highway 97 north of the city. They are expected to arrive at Boitanio Park at around 5:15 p.m., accompanied by a procession of emergency vehicles.

Their arrival will be followed by a closing ceremony at the Ringwood Stage and will be attended by local paramedic and firefighter Jamie MacPherson. MacPherson is also part of the Tour de North team but had to sit out of the tour, which kicked off on Sept. 20.

So far the group has raised $117,680 of its $200,000 goal which will go towards advancing cancer research and build a national support network for families affected by pediatric cancer. Donations can be made by visiting the Tour de North 2024
