Weirdos, witches and queers featured at new Vernon market

Summer Solstice Strange Bazaar at Caetani Centre June 21

A new market, with a bizarre twist, is breaking out of the ordinary with some unique finds, and fun.

The Strange Bazaar takes over the historic Caetani Centre grounds Saturday, June 21, from 1 to 8:30 p.m.

"This is going to be a unique event! Our first Summer Solstice market aims to bring something different to town, celebrating the curious, dark, enchanted, and handmade," said Suzy King, who is organizing the event alongside Eryn Kleyh.

"We have more than 15 weird and wonderful vendors joining us from Vernon and beyond. Some travelling from Salmon Arm, Beaverdell, Oliver, Midway, Nelson, and Denman Island to share their magical and unusual work with everyone."

The free admission solstice market of unusual makers will also feature special performances by local drag creature, Other Nature, to add ambience to the old-world bazaar atmosphere.

"Weirdos, witches and queers - oh my!" the event poster reads.

King is an interdisciplinary artist, who has recently relocated to Spallumcheen from Vancouver.

Kleyh of Wanderlove Handmade crafts unique jewelry as well as clothing.
