Congratulations are in order to all those who played a role in the great success of the 96th annual Williams Lake Stampede.

The weekend kicked off early with the Tsilhqot'in Horse and Bike riders coming to town. The group was bigger than ever, and supporters lined Highway 20 to applaud them and watch them arrive. Participants included riders from Tsideldel, Tl'etinqox and Yunesit'in who enjoyed camping on their way into town with an emphasis on youth.

The Xeni Gwet'in Youth Wagon Trip also enjoyed a successful trip, and arrived just in time for the first performance of the Williams Lake Stampede. Founded by Jimmy Lulua, it is another beloved tradition on Stampede weekend. A third riding group, the Every Child Matters group, also arrived in time to be introduced Friday night, and participate in the Williams Lake Stampede Parade.

Once again the Williams Lake Stampede Parade was well-attended and included representation from various musical groups and local businesses as well as the mining, forestry and ranching sectors in the region.

The rodeos themselves took place Friday evening, and Saturday, Sunday and Monday afternoon. All the events ran smoothly, with the crowd appreciating the action of a pro-rodeo performance. A special shout out to the Wild West Riders drill team, who kicked off each rodeo with an exciting performance.

Added entertainment this year by Full Throttle Trick Riders and Global FMX gave fans even more to see, while new bands in the Let R Buck were also well-received.

Volunteers were also out in full force throughout the weekend, including the Williams Lake Stampede board of directors who really poured their hearts and souls into showcasing the lakecity and making the rodeo the very best it could be.

Congratulations to all for your success.
