It's hard to believe it but graduation weekend has arrived in Williams Lake.
Graduates from Lake City Secondary School, TRU trades programs, Skyline, Cariboo Adventist Academy, Tl'etinqox School, Tatla Lake School and those enrolled in distant education will be celebrating their achievements.
One of the ways the students and their families include the community each year is by participating in the Dry Grad Parade.
People begin lining the streets early for the event rain or shine just to see the grads in their finery and just how creative some of them are with their floats.
Staging begins at 4:30 p.m. along Second Avenue in front of the City Works Yard with street closures at 5 p.m. The parade will depart at 5:30 p.m. from in front of the School District 27 office.
From there it will wind its way through town as shown in the map above, ending at Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex parking lot so that students and families can enjoy taking photographs in nearby Boitanio Park.
There are more than 270 graduates this year. We at the Tribune plan to attend the parade to take photographs and videos which will be shared in a special Grad 2025 section of the paper next week. Congratulations graduates.
Celebrate well, keep safe all weekend, and enjoy the grad ceremonies and the Dry Grad events at the recreation complex Saturday night graduates and guests.
Thank you as well to all the many businesses and organizations who provide funding for the Dry Grad, as well as thousands of dollars in bursaries and scholarships.
As they say, it takes a village to raise a child and see them through to adulthood.
