Wells Gray Provincial Park will be featured in the upcoming St. Andrew’s United Church travelogue series Wednesday, Jan. 31.

St. Andrew’s United Church may be preaching to the converted when it comes to its popular travelogue series.

With admission by donation, desserts baked by members of the congregation, the evenings regularly draw a good-sized crowd.

Kay Knox who lived in Clearwater and hiked in Wells Gray Provincial Park for 15 years will be sharing some of her adventures on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 in the church hall.

Rocco Catalano, a member of the church for more than 40 years, said when the doors open at 6:30 there are often lots of people already there because they enjoy the opportunity to visit.

Presentations start at 7 p.m. and Catalano said they try to keep the evening fairly straight forward, with a 45-minute presentation, a break and then a wrap-up for another 15 or 20 minutes.

While admission is by donation, the travelogues are a way to fundraise for the church so they can keep the building’s utilities going.

“We don’t have a minister right now either so our services are led by lay ministers,” Catalano said.

Once a month the parishioners join a service over Zoom with a United church in Prince George.

“We project it on a screen.”

Services are held at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

St. Andrew’s United Church is located at 1000 Huckvale Place, off midnight. For the travelogue use the side entrance on the lower level.

Other destinations to be feature in upcoming travelogues are Feb. 28 with Brittany Cleminson: Chilcotin; Mar. 27 with Cathy Walsh: Travelling tips and stories from international bus tours and April 10 with Alison Carriere: Silk Road - Asia.
