Corporal George Albert Buckland
Born in 1895 in Quebec. Went overseas in 1915 and was a horsemen despatch rider. Was on the Victory March into Germany with King George V. Came home in 1919. He passed away in Lac la Lache in 1977.
Irvine L. Conroy
In memory of Irvine L. Conroy, 436 Squadron Trenton. Served with RCAF in London from 1942 as Search and Rescue and Bomber support.
Weldon Cropley
Served from July 28, 1942 to Feb. 12, 1946. Operated a Bren Gun Carrier in the 7th British Armoured Division. Medals awarded - France Germany Star and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp.

F/O Robert A. Court, enlisted RCA 1940, transferred to RCAF 1941, completed ops as a bomber pilot with the RAF, discharged 1945.

Served in Europe. Tailgunner in a Liberator.
Robert Hunter Jackson
Served overseas with the Seaforth Highlanders in WWII, 1939-1945. Stationed in England where he met and married Joan Dawson. In May 1943, his troop was sent to Sicily and then Italy. Bob returned to Vancouver in 1945 and had three children with Joan. They moved to Williams Lake in 1953 and the family grew with two more children. The family said a sad goodbye when Bob passed away on Sep. 24, 2002.
Alexander Keith
Served in the 1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. After basic training, he was off to Korea. Once he immigrated to Canada, he joined the Reserves of the Seaforth Highlanders.
Lieutenant Hugh Lambe
1921-2006.
1942 went overseas with Lake Superior Regiment. 1944 in York, England, wounded in Belgium. Transferred to Westminister Regiment in Holland. Returned home on the Queen Mary in 1946.
Mervyn James Matthews
Enlisted British Royal Navy 1942 at 18 as a gunner. Served on the Mauritania, Tysville and Mackville ships. In Normandy day of the battle. 1946 discharged to help rebuild the country post-war. Lived in Burnaby and Williams Lake until his death in 2015.
Ronald Pickford
Petty Officer Ronald Pickford, RN and a Chevalier de Legion d’Honneur, at his 100th birthday celebration this past June, proudly wearing the medal presented to him when invested in the Knighthood of the Legion of Honour by France, in recognition of his service in the liberation of that country starting on D-Day, 1944.
Percy Pigeon
F/L Percy Pigeon Distinguished Flying Cross. Born June 3, 1917 in Williams Lake and passed away March 23, 1969, he joined the RCAF in 1939. Flew for the famed 617 Dambuster Squad. Served May 16, 1943, until the war ended. Carried on with the RCAF until retirement in June of 1962, flying for 405 Squard Maritime Air Command in N.S.

Jeff Skea
Warrant Officer Jeff Skea, C.D., served with 1 PPCLI for four years as a signaller. He is currently serving with the RCAF in Comox B.C. as an Airborne Electronic Sensor Operator, 418 Search and Rescue (Operational Training) Squadron. He has previously deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.
Paul Conrad Starlund
1958, 19 years old in Camp Fort Lewis. He served with the 121st Evacuation Hospital in Korea until he was honourably discharged due to his father’s illness, returning home to care for him and his mother.

Currently based in Esquimalt, B.C. on fleet support, Master Sailor Pamela Vant has served 18 years in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Edwin and Marjorie Warkentin
Marjorie and Edwin Warkentin in 1944, serving in Eastern Canada. Edwin served in Newfoundland, considered “overseas” because it hadn’t yet joined Canada.
