Williams Lake Stampede Parade shaping up for June 28

This year's Stampede Parade is getting set to be another stellar event

A community favourite, the Williams Lake Stampede will once again feature some classic participants, with some new faces as well.

"It's going to be a great parade," said organizer Willie Dye, noting entries in the parade are continuing to roll in.

Penticton's Peachfest plans to attend with their Peachfest float, said Dye, and the Kamloops Rube Band will be coming up to create some great music with their long-standing brass band, which has been featured around the world.

This year's theme is 'Hockey is our game' and Dye said the Grand Marshall will be none other than local hockey great John Margetts.

The parade will also include some current Mustangs, Stampeders and potentially even some connected to the famous Alkali Lake Braves team which travelled to Vancouver to play an all-star team from the semi-professional hockey league in 1932.

This year's Stampede Parade will take place on Saturday, June 28, starting at 10 a.m..

The parade will likely be making its way through the downtown on its usual route, which starts on Fourth Avenue at Kiwanis Park, winds down towards Save-On Foods on Borland Street, then over to Oliver and down Oliver Street towards First Avenue.
