The Williams Lake Curling Centre was celebrated with an accessibility award of merit at the July 16 city council meeting in city hall.

Maureen Straza, chair of the accessibility advisory committee and Mayor Surinderpal Rathor handed over the certificate to Nicole Bellamy, manager of the Williams Lake Curling Centre and Bill Rand.

"I am deeply proud of our curling centre and the work that they've done," said Bellamy, noting the work done to be welcoming and inclusive.

"I want you to know that we're not stopping here," she added.

She mentioned the stick curling league Rand has helped establish, which helps many with more limited mobility continue to participate in the sport.

Bellamy also acknowledged the significant contributions of the late Ken Hall, past manager of the centre, who was instrumental in helping with the completion of the accessibility upgrades to the facility.
