Williams Lake Community Policing team were busy in June and will likely continue to be busy through July.

Members of Williams Lake's Citizens on Patrol, part of the Williams Lake Community Policing Team, were at Arts on the Fly July 12 and 13.

Volunteers helped keep the festivities safe as they patrolled the festival, staffed the gates and ensured rules regarding alcoholic beverages were being followed.

The Citizens on Patrol (COP) and Community Policing team were also recently recognized with a certificate of appreciation from Inspector Robert Lake of the Williams Lake RCMP after COP had a busy June. Lake and Staff Sergeant Brad McKinnon presented the certificate at the monthly COP meeting on July 9.

Volunteers helped ensure the safety of the 2024 Grad Parade on June 8, the ALS walk on June 15 and the Williams Lake Stampede Parade on June 29. The certificate of appreciation specifically recognized the many hours the volunteers contribute to making the Williams Lake Stampede Parade possible, arriving hours before the event to set up and staff barricades.

Including the month of June, the Williams Lake Community Policing volunteers had provided 520 volunteer hours to help maintain the safety and security of the public in the lakecity. In July and August, volunteers will likely also be seen at other events in the community, including the movie nights planned for Boitanio Park Tuesday, July 30 and August 20 at 9:30 p.m..

Citizens on Patrol meets once a month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Community Policing office located near Oliver Street and Third Avenue.
