The Spark into Christmas event at the Tourism Discovery Centre was held on Friday Dec 1 at 4:30 p.m.
“Our balcony was transformed into a festive wonderland to kickstart our fundraiser for Cariboo Friendship Society’s Peace Program,” said Tamara Garreau, Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce executive director.
“We will be collecting donations for the Peace program from Dec 1 to 15 at the TDC.”
Donation requests are games, school supplies, gift cards and craft supplies.
“We have also activated our tip option on our debit machine to accept monetary donations if customers wish,” Garreau said.
The PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counseling, Empowerment) Program offers free counselling support for children and youth ages three to 18 who have experienced violence.
Lori Winters, Peace Program Coordinator, also provides support in the schools as part of the Violence Is Preventable Program. The Peace program also delivers educational presentations and raises awareness through a variety of community events.
